Did you know that Nordonia Hills has participated
in The Future Problem Solving Program for more than 20 years? This year, we had 7 junior teams and 3 intermediate
teams preparing to compete - the most ever!
In 2005, the State Bowl was held April
22 and 23 at West Branch Schools in Beloit, Ohio. Here’s a re-cap from team coach, Laura Collins:
Our kids did a great job.
One team advanced to the second round of skit presentations, and although no teams placed in the top five, their work
was commendable. Alexis Byers, 6th grade, had competed in the scenario writing division earlier in the year and knew she was
in the top five in the state, but didn't know what place. She placed third in
the state for her story about an ocean fisherman. She also came in fifth in the state for her individual packet which she
completed while the teams were working on theirs. Individual packets are reserved for team alternates and top scenario writers.
They do a whole packet by themselves, but their challenges and solutions are reduced from 16 each to 10 each. Still a daunting
task. Several teams are already planning for next year! Thanks for your help
and support this year!
